Infrastructure investments, regional trade agreements and agricultural market integration in Mozambique

Integration of agricultural markets has been a topic great interest in Mozambique. Numerous studies have conducted to assess both domestic and regional integration maize the country, though with some contradictory results. In this study market Mozambique is assessed, focusing on as main crop country. contrast previous work, takes into account new investments infrastructure well changes trade policies, using vector autoregressive (VAR) error correction (VEC) models. The findings suggest that are not efficiently integrated. This particularly true between deficit South surplus Centre North At level, also inefficient many cases. Nonetheless, infrastructure, such Zambezi River Bridge, linking north rest policies over years shown be significantly impacting price changes, north. overall results there room for improvements value chain performance, scope farmers engage more reducing food loss.
